Rita Bronchella, 89, of Forest City, died Thursday January 1st at home. She was the widow of Joseph F. Bronchella, who died in 2017.
Born in Browndale, daughter of the late Joseph and Emma Poska Stankus, she was a member of Ascension Parish, Forest City. She was a graduate of Forest City High School. Prior to her retirement, she was employed in the housekeeping department at the Forest City Nursing Center; she had previously worked as a seamstress at the Ames Company. Rita loved to read, do word search puzzles, go for walks, and bird watching. She enjoyed traveling, cooking and baking, especially Potica. She adored her family and her daughter’s dogs.
The family would like to thank Compassionate Care Hospice for their compassion and care. The family would also like to thank a very special caregiver, Joann Blauvelt; and a very special family friend, Paul Mullally for all of their help and support.
Surviving are two daughters: Ann Marie Utegg and Karen Bronchella; a niece: Carol (Mike) Klobucar; and several cousins, nieces, and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by a son-in-law: Richard Utegg; two sisters: Theresa Brazie and Veronica Vann; a brother: Joseph Stankus; and two infant siblings.
The funeral will be Wednesday January 7th with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 am in St. Joseph’s Church, Delaware St., Forest City. Interment will follow at St. Agnes Cemetery, Forest City. Arrangements by the Jones & Brennan Funeral Home, 430 Main Street, Forest City.
