Margaret Ann (Peskur) O’Koren, 98, of Forest City, passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 4, 2026. She was affectionately known as “Babe” because she was the youngest of 14 children of the late John and Katherine (Bedene) Peskur. In addition to her parents and all her siblings, Marge was preceded in death by her husband Anthony Frank O’Koren and son, David John O’Koren (April). She is survived by three children: Dr. Anthony O’Koren, USAF (Ret. Colonel) (Mari) of Williamsport, PA; Joseph O’Koren (Rosemary) of Franklin, MA; and daughter Dr. Mary Bridget O’Koren (Harry DeJesus) of Ambler, PA. Daughter-in-law April Joy Wennerberg (Karl) resides in Churubusco, IN.
Also surviving are five grandchildren: Anthony O’Koren (Sharon Packard) of Williamsport, PA; Joseph O’Koren (Julia) of Franklin, MA; Dr. Emily O’Koren (Dr. Ryan McNabb) of Durham, NC; Timothy O’Koren (Shannon Sullivan) of Maynard, MA; and Katherine (Paul) Treggiari of Millis, MA. Marge also leaves behind six great- grandchildren: Aria and Aurora O’Koren; Leo and Paige Treggiari; and Ewan and Chloe McNabb.
Marge worked for many years at various sewing factories around the area. She was a lifelong parishioner and dedicated choir member at St. Joseph’s Church (now Ascension Parish). For years she volunteered at the Forest City Assisted Living facility, helping residents make rosary beads. She was excellent in the kitchen and loved cooking for her grandchildren. Their requests of blueberry buckle, potato salad, pierogies, pigs in a blanket, and baked ham were always fulfilled. Not to mention all those cookies, potica, etc. Many in her family carry on the tradition of making her favorite recipes.
Marge lived a beautiful and long life, and will be dearly missed. The family would like to thank neighbors Eileen and Mike Aguiar, neighbors Kerry and Wanda Yankowy, and Margie Heller for their friendship, and for taking such great care of Marge the last several years.
The funeral will be Saturday January 10th with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 am in Saint Joseph’s Church, Delaware St., Forest City. Interment will follow at St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Forest City. Friends may call Friday, from 2 to 5 pm at the Jones & Brennan Funeral Home, 430 Main Street, Forest City, and on Saturday morning at the church from 9:30 am until mass time.
