Margaret Mary Farrell

Margaret Mary Farrell, 98, formerly of Carbondale, died Wednesday December 17th.  She was the widow of James C. Farrell, Sr., who died November 18, 2017.

Born in Carbondale, daughter of the late Fred A. and Hannah Tompkins Gessler, she was a member of Saint Rose of Lima Church, Carbondale.  She was a graduate of Benjamin Franklin High School, Carbondale.  After raising her family, she graduated from Lackawanna County Vo-Tech School and completed the requirements to become a Licensed Practical Nurse.  Prior to retiring, she was employed by the former Marian Community Hospital, Carbondale.  Margaret was a loving mother and grandmother who adored her family.

Surviving are four daughters: Maureen Foster Harkins and husband David, Jasper, FL; Peggy Bonacci and husband Carm, Lake Mary, FL; Susan Maslar and husband Jerry, Brandon, FL; Laura Johnston and husband Ron, Doylestown; five sons: James, Jr. and wife Marian, Clarks Summit; Mark and companion Kaz, Bedford, NH; Christopher and wife Sharon, Pfafftown, NC; Stephen, Brandon, FL; Matt and wife Kim, Kintersville; 21 grandchildren; 25 great grandchildren; a sister: JoAnn Gessler, Clarks Summit; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by two sons: Gregory and Stanley; two grandchildren: Sara Farrell Hutchison and Aaron Farrell; two sisters: Marion Young and Gertrude Toby; and six brothers: Fred, James, Robert, Girard, Paul, and John.

The funeral will be Monday December 22nd from the Brennan & Brennan Funeral Home, Inc., 55 Lincoln Avenue, Carbondale, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 am in St. Rose of Lima Church, Carbondale.  Interment will follow at Our Mother of Sorrows Cemetery, Finch Hill.  Friends may call Sunday, from 2 to 5 pm.
