Courtney Marie McCarthy, 39, of Newton Lake, died Thursday February 26th as a result of injuries suffered in an automobile accident in Greenfield Twp. She was the wife of Robert C. McCarthy.
Born in Carbondale, daughter of James T. and Virginia Tolerico Connor, Jr., of Forest City, she attended Ascension Parish, Forest City. She was a 2005 graduate of Sacred Heart High School, Carbondale. She received her Bachelor’s degree from Wilkes University and her Master’s Degree in Social Work from Marywood University. She was employed as a Psychological Specialists Associate for SCI Waymart. Courtney had a big heart and would do anything for anyone who asked. She enjoyed playing with her son Connor, spending time at the lake, and tending to her garden; she also enjoyed going to car shows.
In addition to her husband and parents, also surviving are a son: Connor, at home; a brother: Christopher Connor and wife Kimberly Fugok, Orefield; and several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins, and her beloved puppies Riley and Cooper.
The funeral will be Friday March 6th with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 am in Saint Joseph’s Church, Delaware Street, Forest City. Friends may call Thursday from 5 to 7 pm at the Jones & Brennan Funeral Home, 430 Main Street, Forest City. All those attending the funeral Friday are asked to go directly to the church.
