Anne Marie Sampson Obituary

Anne Marie Sampson, 77, of Carbondale, died Tuesday March 26th at Hospice of the Sacred Heart, Dunmore.  She was the wife of Douglas Sampson; the couple had been married for 55 years.

Born in Carbondale, daughter of the late Gerald and Theresa Slattery Devaney, she was a devout member of Saint Rose of Lima Church, Carbondale, where she assisted in counting the weekend collections.  She was a graduate of St. Rose High School, Carbondale, Class of 1964.  Prior to her retirement, she was employed as the head teller at the former First of Jermyn bank.  Anne Marie was a member of the Red Hat Society and loved going to lunch with her friends and classmates.  She loved to travel and go on trips to the beach.  She was proud of her Irish heritage and loved her family, especially her granddaughter. 

Also surviving are a daughter: Michelle Sampson, Carbondale; a granddaughter: Lauren Pizzichemi, Carbondale; and several nieces and nephews.

She was also preceded in death by a brother: Joseph Devaney; and two sisters: Mary Taborne and Bridget Slish.

The funeral will be Wednesday, April 3rd from the Brennan & Brennan Funeral Home, Inc., 55 Lincoln Avenue, Carbondale, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 am in St. Rose of Lima Church, Carbondale.  Interment, Our Mother of Sorrows Cemetery, Finch Hill.  Friends may call Tuesday, from 4 to 7 pm.

Memorial donations may be made to Hospice of the Sacred Heart, 100 William St., Dunmore, PA 18510.
